Here's how solar panels work:
Solar Cells: The basic building blocks of solar panels are solar cells, which are semiconductor devices made primarily from silicon. When sunlight (photons) strikes the surface of the solar cell, it excites electrons within the semiconductor material.
Generation of Electricity: The excited electrons are forced to move through the material, creating an electric current. The flow of these electrons generates direct current (DC) electricity within the solar cell.
Solar Panel Assembly: Solar cells are connected in a series and parallel arrangement to form a solar panel. Multiple solar panels are often combined in arrays to increase the overall electricity generation capacity.
Encapsulation: The solar cells are encapsulated between layers of protective material, usually a sheet of tempered glass on the front side and a polymer or backsheet on the back side. This encapsulation protects the solar cells from environmental factors like moisture and mechanical damage while allowing sunlight to reach the cells.
Junction Box: A junction box is usually present on the backside of the solar panel. This box contains electrical connections that allow for the easy wiring of multiple solar panels and provide a point for the DC electricity to be collected and transferred for further use.
